Just about a week ago, I attended a very eye opening workshop conducted by world class guru (Joe McNally) about mini flashes for photography. It’s a dream come true to be able to see Joe in person after reading his books, following his photography works around the world and watching numerous time of his video. It is the effort of Wedshooter.tv to make this week long event a great success (Louis Pang is the man behind Wedshooter.tv).
During the workshop I have the opportunity to test out different light shaping tools and the result is VERY impressive. I hope I am able to save enough $$$$ and getting them real soon. This will be great to use them especially in portrait and wedding photo shooting.
Photo below is taken on Feb 1 (first day of workshop) with my sister Ruth, Joe, Louis and Mel. We don’t want to let go this chance taking photo with them.

The below photo showing Joe sharing his vast experience over the years (LIFE Magazine, Sports Illustrator, National Geographic, etc).

Photo below: Some light moment

The photo below is taken by me – straight from the camera. Model: Vanessa (Tera Chin). One hot shoe flash, one EzyBox and one trigrip diffuser.

Vanessa could pose all day and I could shoot all day as she is very professional. Photo taken with one hot shoe flash, one Ezybox, one trigrip and one gold reflector.

Me and Joe at the end of workshop day…woohoo..

Thanks to Louis who took our group photo. I got to know some new friends from there as well.

Seminar day (Feb 6, 2010). Earlier part of the day Louis was sharing about “guerrilla lighting” in wedding photography and very interesting live demo. Later on that day, Joe was sharing his techniques as well.

And finally, below photo is taken last night (post Joe McNally workshop practice). I took out all my light shaping tool that I have and try out if I could have the same result as what I had in the workshop. Is almost there, but could be better with Ezybox (really gotta have ‘ehem!).
Model: Melissa, also my lovely wife.

Here’s another angle of using a directional lightbox. And I think I got the whole idea how to do it now.
Alright, that’s all from now….tk
